Moonstone is the epitome of a classic yacht with a modern twist. Built in 1997 in a classic style to an Athol Burns modified design she exudes class and style. Her construction is single skin Carvel Kauri and Mahogany on Oak and heart Rimu steamed ribs fastened with copper bolts and bronze screws and caulked in the traditional way.
The deck construction is glass over ply. The quality of the internal fit matches the hull construction and has all the hallmarks of a craftsman.
A well thought through and practical layout provides a sense of space for a yacht under 12m. Light and airy with good headroom she provides ample accommodation for five.
She is powered by a lightly used Volvo Penta 2030B, which has excellent access (as does the rest of the vessel). The galley also is functional with stove and sink. The rigging and sails present in good condition and she has a solid sail wardrobe.
Having talked to the owner of 20 years, Moonstone is a fast and comfortable cruiser, set up for short handed sailing. She is said to be docile but not sleepy and very calm in rough weather.
